ProofPilot How To

Why does the arm I added say “Activate by including this arm in an arm assignment task”

When you add a new arm to your study, you must adjust your current set of arm assignment or randomization procedures to place participants in that arm. Until you’ve done so, the arm will say “Activate by including this arm in an arm assignment task.”

In most cases, all you’ll need to do is go to an existing arm assignment task (most studies just have one at the end of the Join and Recruit).

  • For a conditional assignment, you will want to add a rule that directs participants to be placed in that arm based on data already collected.
  • It’s even easier for simple randomization. There, you just need to check the box next to the arm in the section labelled “Select the Arm you want participant assign to.”

In either case, once you press SAVE, with these updates, your arm will now be included in the study, and the notification will be removed. Participants will be assigned into that arm, and tasks in that arm will fire.
